Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc (Zanaco) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following job aimed at contributing to the Bank’s strategic vision, in the Commercial Division under Commercial & Agriculture Banking at Head Office:-
HEAD COMMERCIAL BANKING
JOB PURPOSE
To develop and drive the Bank’s Commercial Banking strategy, growth opportunities and process excellence. Deliver sustainable and profitable revenue growth through excellent sales management balanced with accountability for an effective risk and control environment. Grow the Commercial Banking customer and related revenue and profitability in line with agreed targets.
Under the supervision of the Head, Commercial & Agriculture Banking, the following are among the Job Key Responsibilities:-
  • Deliver income growth targets and key operating metrics (client acquisition, client satisfaction, product holdings, RM attrition etc).
  • Build, lead and upskill a team of world class Commercial Bankers and ensure that the Commercial Banking team works effectively with all Product partners and other stakeholders.
  • Implement, communicate and refresh the relevant, stretching strategic plans, properly aligned with all parts of the business, including the delivery of our Customer Value Proposition (CVP).
  • Manage the Commercial Clients segment within relevant Cost budgets, both direct and overall on a Cost Income Ratio basis.
  • Manage Non Performing Loans (NPLs) well within expected levels for Commercial Clients across the business cycle.
  • Drive and Co-ordinate the strategy, priorities and sustainable growth of the Commercial Banking Client segment.
  • Deliver the integration of teams and structures into the Commercial Clients segment, including driving the standardisation of the operating model and the delivery of appropriately differentiated segmentation.
  • Manage the risk profile of the Commercial Clients segment, including credit, operational and reputational risk to Bank Standards.
  • Ensure effective implementation of the Risk Management framework.
  • Ensure effective processes are in place to identify, manage, monitor and report risk.
  • Manage and control industry sector, client exposure, and securities held to contain risk.
  • Explore alternative solutions in the event of declines from Credit.
  • Monitoring of daily excesses to ensure that client facilities are managed within the parameters set by Credit Risk.
  • Provide oversight across the segment, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of regulatory conduct and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements.
  • Engage with all audit findings and ensure feedback is acted upon.
  • Continuously improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of processes as they relate to the segment within the job holder’s remit.
  • Maintenance and growth of client relationships and identification of opportunities in those relationships to their successful conclusion.
  • Identification of business requirements in respect of the product and solution requirements needed to satisfy Commercial Banking customer needs and requirements.
  • Ensure regular customer visits and keeping abreast with developments in various markets and industries that customers operate in.
  • To maintain a healthy constant touch with clients and ensure their mandates to the Bank are actioned on time so as to build client loyalty and first to mind banker of choice status.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Grade 12 Credit or above mandatory in Mathematics and English and any other three subjects.
  • Degree in relevant field.
  • Masters Degree would be an added advantage.
  • At least eight (8) years banking experience, more particularly in Commercial Banking with at least (4) years in a managerial position of large businesses.
  • Proven capabilities in growing businesses and developing franchise.
  • Proven risk management capabilities.
  • Knowledgeable in all business guidelines and compliance issues.
  • Knowledge and experience in financial planning for Commercial Banking clients.
  • Good understanding of relevant banking products and services and key business drivers in the country’s legal, political and economic situation/framework.
