The Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) is an independent power transmission and distribution company with interests in closely linked businesses, including optic fibre based telecommunications, in Zambia and the African region. CEC Plc invites applications from suitably qualified, innovative and dynamic individuals for the position below:

ARTISAN – ELECTRICAL (01)

Job Purpose
Carry out cost effective electrical maintenance work on substation equipment for the efficient operation of the power transmission system.
Key Accountabilities
  • Maintain substation and auxiliary electrical equipment to ensure that it is in the right working condition for continued safe power supply to customers
  • Undertake repairs on electrical system equipment so as to restore the equipment in the shortest possible time
  • Carry out equipment installation to satisfy customers’ needs
  • Carry out cable jointing duties to avoid disruption of power
  • Carry out transformer overhaul and rehabilitation to restore equipment
  • Ensure that repaired equipment is thoroughly tested for compliance to required service standards
  • Check for possible faults on substation equipment to avoid major power interruptions and downtime
  • Ensure that working surroundings are always kept in a clean and tidy state (good housekeeping)
  • Compile detailed and informative maintenance sheets on time to facilitate good record keeping
  • Ensure that maintenance work is carried out in accordance with system and safety regulations to avoid accidents
  • Carry out electrical maintenance activities in the most effective and efficient manner
  • Undertake any other jobs that may be assigned from time to time in compliance with company programs of multi-skilling
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum Craft Certificate in Electrical from a recognized institution;
  • 2 years post-qualification experience in a similar field;
  • Ability to read wiring drawings and able to follow wiring schedules;
  • Good understanding of auxiliary switching equipment such as timers, contactors and simple relays;
  • Computer literate and fully conversant with the Microsoft Office package;
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision;
  • Must be member of EIZ.
