PLUMBER WANTED AT US EMBASSY ZAMBIA

POSITION: Plumber
CLOSING DATE: November 23, 2016
WORK HOURS: Full-Time, 40 Hours/Week
SALARY: Ordinarily Resident (OR): FSN-4 (Starting salary ZK85,969.02 p.a.); Not-Ordinarily Resident (NOR): FP-AA* (Starting salary $25,261.00 p.a.)

The U.S. Mission in Zambia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Plumber.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

The incumbent performs the highest level of plumbing work in all Embassy residences, warehouses, and office buildings. S/he inspects and services plumbing systems for sinks, showers, distillers, washing machines, hot water heaters, toilets, pipes and boreholes. The Plumber inspects and services sewer disposal systems for toilets, bathrooms, and kitchen and laundry rooms. S/he ensures drains for the plumbing fixtures are not blocked and that plumbing pipes are not leaking.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.

EDUCATION: Completion of senior secondary school and craft certificate in plumbing is required. Completion of one (1) year vocational training or apprenticeship is also required.
EXPERIENCE: Three years plumbing work experience is required.
LANGUAGE: Level III (good working knowledge) English is required. Language proficiency will be tested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use all tools of the plumbing trade is required. A valid Zambian driver’s license is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Full journeyman knowledge of established plumbing practice, procedures and safety rules is required.
