PROJECT MANAGER , Keepers Zambia Foundation (KZF)


Keepers Zambia Foundation (KZF) is a Zambian non-governmental organisation which has been working among rural and pen-urban communities since 1996. KZF focuses on improving livelihoods of disadvantaged rural and pen-urban based households and communities.
In partnership with the Ministry of Health and UK Charity Cola Life, KZF has embarked on the Kit Yamoyo Transition to Scale project in Lusaka (KYTS-Lusaka) which aims at scaling-up distribution and uptake of ORS/Zinc for diarrhoea in both the private sector format (Kit Yamoyo) and the GRZ-branded ORS/Zinc co-pack format, and to encourage appropriate hygiene behaviours in Lusaka Province through the public and private sectors, including targeting of the poorest. This project is majority funded by UK Aid from the British People (through UK’s Department for International Development) and through ColaLife’s Health Innovation Award from GSK and Save the Children.
KZF now invites applications from suitably qualified Zambian citizens to fill the following vacant positions in Lusaka:
Project Manager (PM)
Job purpose
The PM will drive the project forward within the timescales and budget laid out in donor conditions. He/She will report to KZF’s Programme manager and work with ColaLife’s UK-based Project Manager to implement the day-to-day management of the KYTS-Lusaka project. He/she will be responsible for planning, implementation and reporting as well as liaison with local stakeholders at provincial, district and traditional levels.
Main responsibilities
  • Work with ColaLife’s Counterpart Project Manager
  • Manage four field facilitators (see below)
  • Coordinate planning processes and activities among staff, partners and stakeholders
  • Project monitoring, data capture, analysis, lesson learning and report writing
  • Coordination of and liaison with local stakeholder at the province, district and traditional levels including relationship building and maintenance of existing links with government departments, specialist NGOs and other collaborating partners
  • Lead advocacy, policy influence and lessons learning activities with and among relevant policy makers
  • Provide technical backstopping support to Field Facilitators and community volunteers
  • Facilitate community and stakeholder participation in priority setting, planning, budgeting and implementation of project activities
  • Prepare and arrange quarterly and annual project review meetings and workshops
  • Facilitate smooth flow of project related information through all levels of project implementation and management
Qualifications and experience
  • Degree or advanced Diploma in a health related field, social work or other relevant field
  • Minimum of 3 years practical experience in facilitating child health and/or community development programmes.
Personal attributes and competencies
  • A ‘can-do’ person, who has past success in making a project happen within planned timescales
  • Willing to work in a counterparting role with a UK-based project manager
  • Good communication (oral and written), project management and networking skills
  • Leadership and team building skills
  • A forward planner, who can meet deadlines and is willing to work long hours when needed
  • Fluency in spoken Chinyanja or Chichewa will be an added advantage
  • Computer literacy
  • Self motivated and ability to work with minimum local supervision.
