CORPORATE AFFAIRS MANAGER , Standard Chartered


Regular/Temporary: Permanent
Full/Part Time: Full time
  • Ensure that the Country’s internal and external communication programmes are well implemented.
  • Ensure the Bank’s ‘share of voice’ in the local media is maintained and grown, and the Bank is seen as a market leader.
  • Ensure that Country level messages and brand profiling are consistent and standardised to that of the Group’s.
  • Ensure a high quality of work is maintained at all times.
  • Maintain good relations with external parties.
  • Ensure the Bank newsletter is produced every month or as stipulated in the Corporate Affairs Strategy.
  • Ensure that news clips are submitted to the required recipients daily.
  • Ensure that all media values received by the Bank are tracked and submitted on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure that all sponsorship requests and letters from external parties are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Organise press conferences, arrange meetings and conference calls for country members.
  • Handle and respond to Group and ARO requests.
  • Respond to all media queries and questionnaires and escalate as appropriate.
  • Handle Group and ARO visits to Zambia
  • Update the press about ongoing Bank events in order to get coverage for them
  • Organise Media coverage for all Bank sponsored events and major visitors to Zambia.
  • Organise meetings/entertainment with media personalities for relationship building and maintaining pro-active key media contacts.
  • Enhance and assist in protecting the Bank’s reputation in Zambia by consistently monitoring, identifying and advising the business of any potential reputational risk.
  • Attend and be an active participant of the Support Functions Operation Risk Management and Assessment committee.
  • Attend the Reputational risk committee meetings
  • Assist the HCA by actively managing Themed weeks e.g. Innovation Week, Loyalty week etc
  • Prepare Itineraries, speeches and talking points for CA clients.
Qualifications and Skills
  • University degree or equivalent professional qualification.
  • An excellent  command of the English and other local languages, both written and verbal
  • High energy level, strong sense of teamwork and a  ‘can do ‘ attitude
  • The ability to combine strategic perspective with the need to act quickly when the situation demands
  • The ability to prioritise work and deliver high quality output to tight deadlines
  • Has strong inter-personal skills to interface at a senior level inside and outside the Bank
