JOBS IN ZAMBIA AT NIMH

Main Office location: Medical School Ridgeway campus, University Teaching Hospital.
Location of study: Lusaka, Copperbelt, Southern, and Central Provinces
Duration:  5 years
Over the course of the project, the incumbent will travel for extended periods to each of 4 Provinces, (Lusaka, Central, Copperbelt, Southern), in teams of 4 staff members or individually by bus or study transport.
In each Province, staff will
  • Train, and provide support and QA/QC to local health care personnel at community health centres (CHCs) to conduct a behavioral intervention designed to reduce sexual risk behaviors, highlighting voluntary medical male circumcision as an effective strategy to prevent HIV infection
  • Assist in conducting training workshops and “on-the-job” training with CHC staff
    Conduct assessments of local health care personnel at community health centres using an automated computer assisted survey instruments (computerized assessments)
  • Transmit data collected to the main office in Lusaka using DropBox
  • Conduct intensive interviews with community health center staff, transcribe the recordings, translating them into English, if necessary, and transmit these data to the Lusaka office using DropBox
  • Attend regular staff meetings and biweekly conference calls with the Zambia and Miami teams
The incumbent should be outgoing, a self-starter, problem-solver, able to work without direct supervision. They will report to the Project Coordinator, the Project Director, Dr. Ndashi Chitalu, and the PI, Dr. Robert Zulu.
The incumbent should be trained in the social sciences and have significant experience as a trainer, working with groups and be comfortable with using computers. They should also be able to travel for extended periods to the four Provinces noted above.
