Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) is a local registered NGO engaged in development projects in the fields of education, health, agriculture and other poverty alleviation programmes. Projects are carried out in all the provinces of Zambia.
Among its fundraising initiatives, DAPP operates shops dealing in clothes and shoes across the country. DAPP is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to take up positions of Shop Manager andSales Assistant for some of its shops.
SHOP MANAGERS
Key responsibilities
  1. Ensuring achievement of set targets
  2. Developing and implementing marketing and sales plans and writing reports on the same
  3. Developing the capacity of staff through training, coaching, mentoring, etc.
  4. Developing and implementing pricing strategies
  5. Acquiring, configuring, utilising and maintaining cash register
  6. Banking cash and preparing Reconciliation statements
  7. Ensuring excellent display of items and neat and hygienic appearance of the shop
  8. Monitoring turnover of items on the shop floor and making timely replenishments
  9. Promoting team work and discipline among the staff in the shop
  10. Designing and implementing sales promotion campaigns, as and when necessary
  11. Writing and submitting required reports
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent, and tertiary qualification in selling or marketing
  • At least 3 years’ experience in sales leadership role in retail
  • Abreast with the legal and economic framework for conducting commercial activities and international trade
  • Good knowledge of modern fashion trends
  • Working experience in textiles
  • High level of self-motivation, precision and commitment to results
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent in English language and the local language used in the location of the shop
  • IT literate
SALES ASSISTANTS
Key responsibilities
  1. Selling clothes, shoes and other products available in the shop, in a courteous manner and following laid down guidelines
  2. Keeping the shop and its surroundings tidy, with all items in their designated locations
  3. Participating in all pre-sale and post-sale activities
  4. Displaying products according to their categories and colour codes
  5. Replenishing products in a timely manner
  6. Making the customers aware of available products, promotions, etc.
  7. Meeting, greeting, assisting and establishing rapport with customers
  8. Being alert to prevent shoplifting and other malpractices, and to promote safety
  9. Participating in advertising/promotion activities of the business
  10. Writing and submitting reports as required
  11. Participating in loading and offloading activities
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent with passes in English, Mathematics and Commerce. Computer literacy and business studies are an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience
  • Fluent in English and the local language used in the location of the shop
