IT OFFICER Job at AMSCO Zambia



The IT Officer will be required to provide an effective and efficient support services to IT users in order to drive the business. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for the following:
Main Accountabilities
 Installing and configuring computer/network hardware, operating systems and applications.
 Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks.
 Providing staff with effective support within stipulated timelines, either in person or remotely.
 Troubleshooting system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware/software, and wireless communication .
 Effective management and coordination of ICT vendors, suppliers and partners.
 Following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or configure a system.
 Deployment and roll-out of new applications.
 Creation of new users’ accounts and profiles and dealing with password and authentication issues.
 Resolving all IT outages within specified timelines.
 Adherence to escalation procedures (senior team members or vendors for resolution).
 Prioritising and managing multiple open cases at any given time.
 Testing and evaluating new technologies and providing recommendations to IT Manager.
 Training and documentation for staff and IT Team where applicable.
 Availability after hours if and when required by IT Manager.
 Assist IT Staff and users in other regions to ensure continuity.
 Management of regional ICT assets for organisation.

Desired Skills and Experience

Minimum experience and qulaifications:
 Relevant IT Certification, minimum requirement N⁺, A⁺ and MCSE.
 ITIL or COBIT Framework experience a nice to have.
 Experience in resolving hardware and software problems.
 2 year working experience in IT environment.
Technical Skills and competency requirements:
 Ability to work on own initiative – ability to assert one’s influence over events in order to achieve goals.
 Attention to detail – ability to accomplish tasks through concern for all areas concerned.
 Analytical – ability to secure relevant information and identify key issues and relations from a base of information.
 Problem solving – ability to identify, analyse, organize and solve problems and issues in a timely and effective manner.
 Interpersonal - relates well to all kinds of people, builds appropriate rapport and is
    able to build constructive and effective relationships.
 Integrity – a truthful individual can present the unvarnished truth in an appropriate and helpful manner. Displaying integrity
    with sensitive business information.
Essential Skills:
 Ability to produce accurate and effective reporting.
 Troubleshooting and technical skills.
 Time Management skills
Knowledge and expertise required:
 Must be  proficient in IT service management.
 Database development experience; Java / SQL an advantage.
 Back office and network experience.
 Particular knowledge/experience of working in multicultural environments
