BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER , Plan International Zambia

Business Development Manager ( Lusaka Position) 
Position Description
The position exists to support the achievement of Country fundraising targets and expanding the funding portfolio. The position will work with and  support the  Country Leadership Team to develop a strong professional image among Plan International donors and acquired resources need to implement  the Country Strategic Plan. She/he will actively seek and maximise opportunities for additional funding from a variety of sources including Institutional donors, Foundations and Corporates.  The successful candidate will need to have strong business development and fund-raising experience, partnership management and good operational knowledge of the development sector in Zambia.  The position holder wills be part of the Country Management Team, Region of Eastern and Southern Africa Resource Mobilization Network and reports to the Country Director.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Develop, manage and maintain strategic partnerships with local actors, including bilateral, multilaterals, corporate donors and external networks
  • Actively identify grant opportunities and develop grant proposals in close coordination with Programs Department and Program Units
  • Oversee and coordinate the development of writing and packaging of grant proposals from concept through to award
  • Maintain comprehensive schedule of grant opportunities and track proposals and reports for all types of donors, deadlines and follow up activities
  • Develop and maintain key long term relationships with donors and prospective donors
  • Monitor Plan Zambia’s compliance with donor regulations
  • Package grant proposals to suit the requirements of different
  • Coordinate and strengthen the capacity of staff and partners in building donor relations, generating resources (technical, funding, material) and managing/reporting on grant funded programs and projects
  • Develop strategic partnerships
  • Develop Resource Mobilization Standards that are in adherence to Plan’s Child Protection Policy Standards.
  • Identify and management of grant risks
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Development studies /Economics or any related field. Preference for Masters Qualifications.
  • Demonstrated track record of writing project proposals and obtaining grant funding for development projects and programs
  • S/he should highly motivated, dynamic, able to work independently and a good manager of people and diverse relationships.
  • Ten years professional experience, at least seven  of  which is  in a senior  management position in the development sector.
  • The position is Lusaka based but requires frequent field visits and some international travel.
