The Norwegian Embassy is looking for a financial controller/programme officer to assist with managing the Embassy’s development co-operation portfolio.
Norway’s main areas of development aid to Zambia at present are climate-smart agriculture and food security; good economic governance including public financial management, taxation and anti-corruption; and support to women’s rights and gender equality. Norway is also looking beyond aid, and seeks to strengthen its trade and investments for Zambia.
Financial Controller/Programme Officer
Requirements
- Minimum of five years work experience
- Background in accountancy
- Economics or other relevant fields
- Experience in project, programme management and public financial management
Duties
- Reviewing all project proposals, annual and semi-annual accounts
- Financial reporting and audit reports
- Strict financial management by all partners and grant recipients in line with the Embassy’s zero corruption policies
- Managing several projects within the public financial management portfolio under the auspices of the Deputy Head of Mission
- Assessing progress reports and ensuring good financial reporting
- Participate in meetings with development partners, government officials, and other stakeholders
Qualifications and skills
- Well-organised, flexible and quick to learn
- Awareness of general development issues in Zambia, regionally, and internationally
- Knowledge of the Government of Zambia’s systems and procedures
- University degree at Masters Level or beyond and relevant work experience with good IT skills
