Role overview
| The main objective of this placement is to strengthen the capacity of physical planning at provincial level. You'll ensure planning is based on sound information analysis and proposals are realistic in financial and programming terms. You'll advise on the implementation of the plans and ensure they involve participation of local communities. As a result from this physical planning the ministry should be better able to address and resolve current land use management issues, particularly in informal settlements, and set out clear and agreed land use frameworks to provide for future residential, industrial and commercial developments effectively integrated with the essential physical and social infrastructure. |
Skills, qualifications and experience required
| The ideal applicant shall have a bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent. Membership of the Professional Planning Institute of their respective country and postgraduate degree in Urban and Regional planning or equivalent is desirable. Knowledge/experience of development planning and project implementation in sub Saharan Africa or another developing country environment. |
| The successful candidate shall work with the Ministry of Local Government on the Irish Aid funded project in the Northern Province of Zambia. The candidate shall work in a team of other three volunteers. |
