Human Rights Based Approach Advisor Job at ActionAid Zambia (AAZ)

ActionAid Zambia (AAZ) seeks an experienced HRBA Advisor, who is able to provide efficient capacity development to both national staff at the ActionAid office and its partner organisations. The overall objective of the placement is to ensure that the Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA) is embedded in all programmes at both local and national levels. Specific objectives are focused on strengthening monitoring and evaluation and AAZ’s partnership work.
AAZ has national coverage through its Local Rights Programmes (LRPs) in 7 districts and works closely with local and national partner organizations. The HRBA Advisor will work with the LRPs and with selected partner organizations to develop their programming using the HRBA approach.
Key result areas
  • Support and facilitate training, coaching and mentoring of key individuals at AAZ and selected partners using the HRBA and participatory methodologies;
  • Support the integration of HRBA in programming by guiding planning, participatory review, reflection processes, implementation, monitoring and reporting;
  • Review, refine and support the implementation of strong M & E systems within AAZ and selected partners;
  • Support the review, refining and implementation of partnership policies and capacity assessments within AAZ;
  • Ensure that staff have in-depth HRBA knowledge, practice it and share the lessons within the ActionAid Federation; and as well as participating in webinars supporting the development of the global M & E framework and tools
Required qualifications
  • At least 5 years of relevant post-graduate work experience;
  • At least 3 years of this experience must be in capacity development conducting coaching and training related to HRBA, M&E and programming;
  • Sound understanding of a HRBA is a much, knowledge of ActionAid’s HRBA will be an advantage
  • Experience in designing and implementing M&E frameworks and tools;
  • At least 3 years of experience working with capacity building of partners;
  • Experience working in developing countries (preferably in sub-Saharan Africa)

Contract start is subject to approval of work and residence permit, which can be a lengthy process. Therefore, the expected start date is January 1st, 2016. The assignment is for 24 months, with the possibility for renewal.
