Pan African Building Society is a deposit taking Non-Bank Financial Institution providing various financial products and services to individuals and institutions alike.  Pan African Building Society provides savings and investments accounts as well as payroll backed and mortgage home loans to individuals, and a full range of leasing and corporate finance products to institutional customers.
Pan African Building Society seeks to recruit a qualified and dynamic individual to fill the following position;
Legal Assistant
Based in Lusaka and reporting to the Legal Officer, the Legal Assistant shall be required to carry out the following duties among others;
Responsibilities
  • Providing high quality support services in the Legal Department of the Building Society in various areas of law including, but not limited to, labour matters, banking and finance, tax, companies, competition and consumer protection, securities and debt instruments.
  • Conducting and coordinating searches at various registries.
  • Lodgement of documents at various registries to which the Society’s business is amenable.
  • Delivery of documents to clients and counterparts of the Building Society.
  • Preparing status reports on litigation matters.
  • Preparing status reports on mortgages and debentures lodged at various registries.
  • Updating the register of members as well as a register of directors.
  • Updating the register of debentures and mortgages.
  • Maintaining a database of all commercial agreements executed by the Building Society.
  • Updating the Society’s Legal Library with latest and/or revised legislation.
  • Performing any other functions delegated by Supervisors.
Required qualification, skills and experience
  • Certificate in Law from a reputable University or College.
  • Diploma in Law will be an added advantage.
  • Computer Literate
  • At least one year experience in a busy law firm or corporate organization.
  • Aged 30 years and below.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
