PROCUREMENT & LOGISTICS ASSISTANT , Mfuwe, Zambia


Position: Procurement & Logistics Assistant
Contract: Full Time – 1 year renewable
Location: Mfuwe
Reporting To: Procurement Officer Background
BioCarbon Partners (BCP) is an African-registered and headquartered REDD+ development and management social enterprise. BCP is implementing the Community-based Forest Management Program (CFP) funded by USAID/Zambia. The CFP award represents a significant addition to the BCP portfolio and budget and enables BCP as a company to expand its business. The CFP expansion, and future growth of the company requires worldclass administration and USAID Compliance management experience. Scope of Work: BCP seeks to recruit a Procurement and Logistics Assistant with logistical skills to support the CFP Support Office in Mfuwe. This position targets exceptional office management, administrative backstopping and taking care of detail so that team members can focus on working in rural areas in support of BCP’s mission which is to reduce poverty and enhance conservation.

Background:
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
This is a local office support position. The Procurement & Logistics Assistant will work as part of the CFP office in Mfuwe with responsibilities including:
  • Prepare purchase orders on behalf of the company
  • Review prices and product specifications from various suppliers to determine which would provide the best deal.
  • Create and maintain purchase files and price lists, as well as determine if the company has enough inventory on hand, with the help of the Admin Assistant
  • Track deliveries and make sure BCP receive exactly what was ordered from suppliers.
  • Physically check shipments to ensure the appropriate items were delivered.
  • Answer supplier and customer inquiries about order changes or cancellations and check requisition orders for accuracy.
  • Update asset register and inventory list.
Job Qualifications
Education:
  • Minimum High School graduation; college education preferable.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a procurement or administrative capacity required;
  • Experience in making logistical arrangements;
  • Computer literacy required;
  • Fluency in English required;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks efficiently and attention to detail; and
  • Proactive individual with a positive attitude willing to work in team settings.
Working Conditions/Duration of Assignment:
The Procurement Assistant will report to the Procurement Officer and will work in close coordination with the Office Manager, and Admin Assistant. The anticipated duration of the assignment is for one year renewable.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Understanding of USAID regulations concerning procurement, contracts, finance and administrative operations.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Good team-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, BCP’s board of directors, and staff.
  • Passion for BCP’s mission.
