COUNTRY IT ASSISTANT , Plan International Zambia

Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on education, health and sanitation, economic empowerment, and child protection and participation. Plan’s work is guided by our Child-Centered Community Development (CCCD) approach. Plan International Zambia has programme units in Central, Luapula, and Eastern provinces, including  in Lusaka, where the Country Office is located. 
Plan International Zambia is looking for innovative, motivated self starter to  fill the following positions :
Country IT Assistant – Country Office – 3 Years Contract (1 position) (Available July 2016)
Reporting to the Country IT Manager at Country Office, He/She supports the effective and efficient management of Plan International Zambia’s IT by coordinating and providing technical support for Country Office users. He/She manages & administers local IT infrastructure and corporate systems under the direction of the Country IT Manager. Conversant in systems analysis, design and project management skills.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Installation, administration and maintenance of Windows 2003/2008/2012 servers
  • Experience in managing and monitoring LAN network infrastructure and connectivity to internet (that includes cables and patch panels, switches, Cisco systems, Routers, Riverbed Web Acceleration, Fibre optic technologies)
  • Provide reliable solutions and first line support and training to end users for third party and corporate systems
  • Implement a resilient end to end system for disaster recovery
  • Carry out regular preventive maintenance of computers and peripheral equipment such as scanners, printers, projectors and other related networking equipment
  • Installation, administration, upgrading, migrations maintenance and support of Corporate Systems
  • Coordination and management of information systems
  • Manage data and applications recovery from various backup locations and media in the event of system failure or natural disaster
  • Implement and administer IT systems, data and network security
  • Implement IT infrastructure security in compliance with organisation’s global IT operating standards, procedures and child protection guidelines
  • Provide technical analysis of equipment breakdowns
Qualifications and Experience
  • 3-4 Years
  • Degree in computer sciences or related IT field
  • Microsoft Certification in System Administration or Engineering
  • Advanced knowledge in Programming languages or Mobile computing
  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory Infrastructure, Group Policy Objects and  ftp site management
  • Working knowledge in software design and development
  • Advanced knowledge in Windows 7/8/10 Operation Systems and MS Office 2010/2013, MS Exchange and Office 365
  • Be conversant with 64 Bit and 32 Bit computer hardware upgrade/downgrade options
  • Troubleshooting and Problem solving skills
  • Conversant with any Helpdesk call management/logging software application
  • Be conversant with latest world trends in Information and Communication Technology
