PROGRAMME COORDINATOR HEALTH , Plan International

Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on education, health and sanitation, economic empowerment, and child protection and participation. Plan’s work is guided by our Child-Centered Community Development (CCCD) approach. Plan International Zambia has programme units in: Central, Luapula, Eastern and Provinces including in Lusaka, where the Country Office (CO) is located.
Plan International Zambia is looking for innovative, motivated, self-starter individuals to fill the following vacancy:
Programme Coordinator Health – Luapula Mansa (1)
Position Description
Reporting to the Programme Manager Health at the Country Office, with a dotted line relationship to the Programme Unit Manager, s/he supports the effective and efficient management of Plan’s Health portfolio in the Programme Unit to ensure a high level of interaction between Plan, communities, and other stakeholders in health issues in line with Plan’s Child Centered Community Development Approach.
Key areas of responsibility include:
  • Coordinating all health operations including Water ,Sanitation, and Hygiene (WATSAN) project activities  in the Programme  Unit
  • Community capacity building
  • Monitoring and evaluation of Primary Health Care, as well as Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programmes
  • Meeting contractual requirements from different donors
  • Grants management reporting
  • Establishing partnerships with NGO’S, government entities, and all other  stakeholders to increase local resource mobilisation and long term sustainability
  • Ensuring community involvement in the initiation, development, management, monitoring and evaluation of Plan Health Programmes
  • Coordinating and promoting the maintenance of water and basic sanitation in all the Plan Communities
  • Establishing and implementing standards of accountability, effectiveness and efficiency for Primary Health Care (PHC), Water and Sanitation Programmes in the Program Unit.
  • Establishing partnerships with NGO’s and Government entities to increase local resource mobilization and long term sustainability
  • Capacity building of partners and volunteers to empower them with skills and know how.
Individual Specifications:
  • Degree in Health Sciences or equivalent
  • 2- 4 years experience in the NGO sector; working with children and communities; managing child-related health programmes and projects would be an advantage
  • Experience in  writing project proposals and grants reporting
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Good communication skills
  • Time management, administrative, and organisational skills
  • Enthusiastic self-starter
