The Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurships Training Authority (TEVETA) is a body corporate established under the Technical Education, Vocation and Entrepreneurship Training (TEVET) Act No. 13 of 1998 and the TEVET (Amendment) Act No. 11 of 2005.
TEVETA was established to regulate, monitor and co-ordinate Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training in consultation with industry, employers, workers and other stakeholders.
TEVETA wishes to recruit qualified and experienced Zambians to fill the following vacant position.
Specialist – Information Technology
Reporting to: The Manager– Information Technology
Overall purpose of the job
He/she will plan and administer the local area network (LAN), related hardware, software and databases, performing various tasks the Authority’s and user requirements are met.
Duties and responsibilities;
- Evaluates and resolves user problems, identifying and obtaining appropriate resources for the resolution of problem
- Evaluates needs for new and revised systems; identifies possible improvements in computer systems, makes recommendations for purchase of the new information systems hardware and software
- Administers the Local Area Network; establishing and implementing procedures for back up data storage and maintaining efficient operation of the LAN
- Establishes and maintains Internet and Intranet web sites and web pages; providing technical support in creating contents areas;
Minimum Job Requirements
Knowledge of
- Information technology systems, principles and technique
- Windows networking operating systems, configuration and commands, and network protocolsWindow desktop operating systems and applications
- Local area networks and related systems, hardware and software installation and configuration
- How to maintain and configure servers
- Data and systems security systems, backup, disaster recovering and related processes
Ability to:
- Troubleshoot, analyse and resolve problems
- Document technical
Should possess:
- A BSc in Information Technology
- Microsoft Engineer Certification
- Three years’ post qualification experience which includes windows 2000, 2003, 2007 and network operating systems
