TECHNICAL COORDINATOR – UNDER FIVE CHILDREN & YOUTH
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP – CHIEF OF PARTY
Purpose of the Position
The Technical Coordinator for Under Five children and works towards the protection and development of children under the age of 5 and youths. S(he) will provide support to the ZAMFAM Project in improving physical, emotional, intellectual and social development of under 5 vulnerable Children, Youth and their families. S(he) will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring these activities aimed at providing Child Protection, Education and nutrition & Livelihoods. Together these areas promote the wellbeing of children and youth through working across a child’s or youth’s environment with families, communities, and government and through safe and developmentally appropriate programs across age groups. Responsibilities under this position include tools development, CBO support, interagency coordination and linkages. This position will report to the Chief of Party.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under 5 Children Development
The TC will provide technical leadership and direction for the project and will have responsibility for all activities associated with improving the general wellbeing, including health and nutritional status of the beneficiaries, especially under 5 children
Youth Development
The TC will oversee all ZAMFAM activities aimed at increasing the youth’s access to Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) Services, economic opportunities such as community savings groups and vocational training/job opportunities
Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Expertise
  • Minimum of Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or other relevant related degree
  • S/he must have at least five years of experience in Early Childhood Development, Sexual Reproductive health, Life skills for children and Youth, psychosocial support, or equivalent experience in a related field and must have held a similar position in children (especially under 5) and youth programming;
  • S/he must have the skills, abilities and experience to offer technical support and oversight to under 5 children and youth approaches and materials that are aimed at improving program outcomes;
  • S(he) should be able to troubleshoot complex problems related to the under five and youth programs’ technical approach or technical deliverables at all levels of programming and contribute to the solution.
  • S/he must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Skills and personal qualities required: Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize tasks, ability to work under minimum supervision, good computer skills, excellent supervisory skills, self motivated, quick learner, team orientated
