qualified and experienced Zambians to fill the under
listed vacancies that have fallen vacant under its
Directorate of Infrastructure Planning and
Development.
Position Title: On-Site Sanitation Specialist
Reports to: Manager Lusaka Sanitation Program
Department: Lusaka Sanitation Program
Location: Lusaka
Job Purpose:
To coordinate the planning, design and
implementation of programs for construction,
operation and maintenance of on-site sanitation and
fecal sludge management systems under the Lusaka
Sanitation program
Key Responsibilities
– Coordinate the planning and design of on-site
sanitation systems
– Coordinate construction program for on-site
sanitation and Fecal Sludge Management (FSM)
facilities, taking into consideration stakeholders
management
– Facilitate land acquisition for construction of on-
site sanitation and FSM infrastructure in the Peri-
urban communities
– Ensure accountability in the use of on-site
sanitation construction support fund under the
Lusaka Sanitation Program
– Propose catchment areas for FSM facilities and
create operation and maintenance management
teams in consultation with local leadership
– Ensure that FSM teams are adequately equipped to
be able to offer pit emptying services and maintain
the FSM infrastructure, taking into consideration
environmental and occupational health compliance
– Formulate standard operating procedures for FSM
teams
– Manage the transition of communities from using
the existing unplanned sanitation facilities to
sustainable on site sanitation systems
– Prepare and submit periodic reports to
management
Qualifications and Experience
– Minimum of a degree in Water or Civil Engineering
– At least 5 years experince in the Water and Supply
and Sanitation sector
– At least 2 years of experince in supervision of
contractors on donor finacial projects
– Registered Engineer with the Engineering
Registration Board (ERB) and Member of the
Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
