Job description

I. Information about the job position:

Name of position: Project coordinator in Zambia
Workload (full-time, half-time): Full time
Supervisor: Head of Mission in Zambia
Expected length of employment: 2 years
Place of employment: Zambia (70 % of time in Mayukwayukwa and Meheba and 30 % in Mongu – CCR´s main office)

Start date: mid Augus t/S eptember 2015

II. Organizational context:

Caritas Czech Republic (CCR) is a non-profit organization that provides health and social services in the Czech Republic. It also operates abroad within the frame of humanitarian aid and development cooperation. CCR is a respected member of Caritas Internationalis network. Its foreign activities focus on the health and social sectors and also on developing livelihood for the local population and education of children and adults.

Currently we are looking for a coordinator of the project "Improving Access to Mechanized Farming and Support of Livelihoods in Mayukwayukwa and Meheba Resettlement Areas“. This project broadens the already existing activities focusing on the integration of former Angolan refugees into Zambian society in the areas of resettlement in Mayukwayukwa and Meheba. The project is targeting at supporting the local cooperatives and business activities of people living in resettlement areas.

III. Description of job responsibilities:

Administrative tasks:
• Administration of the project and record keeping (also financial records)
• Preparation and implementation of expenditure plans
• Management of project cash register and monitoring of expenditures
• Reporting to Head of Mission and to donors
Coordination tasks
• Implementation of project activities according to project documents
• Coordination of local staff and contractors
Project support
• Control of the project outputs and fulfilment of the project plan in accordance with the requirements of the donor
• Representation of CCR in negotiations with local authorities, donors and partners
• Further development of the programme

IV. Qualification and requirements

• Minimum achieved education: University degree in relevant field
• Minimum experience required: Proven experience in project management min. 3 years

Required skills:

English on a professional level
Experience with working in a developing country
Experience with working in non-profit sector or in an international organization
Good communication skills, flexibility, ability to work under pressure and in challenging conditions
Basic knowledge of financial and budget management
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Willingness to work in accordance with the Caritas CR Ethical Code
