Job Title: Enumerator
Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a nonprofit organization that creates and evaluates solutions to social and development problems, and works to scale up successful ideas through implementation and dissemination to policymakers, practitioners, investors, and donors.
IPA is looking for vibrant qualified enumerators to assist in the Female Condom base-line survey which will run from the end of August to early November. The study will be carried out in Lusaka, Chilanga, Chongwe and Kafue district. The main objective of the study is to investigate the impact of distribution of female condoms, a mass media campaign and interpersonal communication intervention regarding a new female condom will impact use on the prevalence of female condom use and prevalence of overall condom use.
Position Summary:
The Enumerator position provides an excellent career opportunity to gain hands‐on experience in a field setting with a vibrant organization undertaking cutting‐edge development research. The Enumerator will work closely with the research and field staff to perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:
- Conduct interviews with research participants at households within the study area, chosen by the IPA Field Manager and/ or Research Associate;
- Be willing to walk to administer surveys at households across wards.
- Adhere to all IPA survey and data protocols; Ensure data quality
- Perform other duties related to the project that may be assigned to him/her, such as, but not limited to, testing the questionnaire and make arrangements for his/her interviews.
- Be responsible for maintaining good relations with IPA, its employees, partner organizations and project participants.
- Transmit data collected to her/his coordinator on a daily basis.
Qualifications:
- The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree/diploma, or have at least one year field/data collection experience
- Should be familiar with computer assisted interviews or keen to learn
- Must have practical knowledge of MS word, MS excel, MS PowerPoint, Email, and have the ability to use electronic devices, i.e. tablets or smartphones
- Excellent communication skills in English is required. Additional language ability in Nyanja and/or Bemba preferred.
Desirable:
- Experience in survey work.
- Experience in working on a research project.
- Work experience in a reputable research/international organization.
- Willing to have a flexible schedule including working on weekends.
