Response Supervisor

Akros strengthens national health systems in developing countries. We pride ourselves in our ground-level knowledge of the health systems where we work, and our ability to provide novel, lasting solutions implemented in developing egions.
Akros has developed a trial entitled Community-led Responses for Elimination (CoRE) that aims to investigate and compare two different reactive response interventions for malaria elimination. We are looking for suitable experienced and qualified individuals to assist in collecting data and specimens during this trial.
General Responsibilities
The response supervisors will work in the field to ensure that data and specimens are collected, stored and submitted correctly. They will work under the supervision of the CoRE project manager and will be responsible for supervising their team of CoRE Response Assistants. They will also work closely with local Community Health Workers (CHW) to co-ordinate activities.
Specific Responsibilities
• Liase with CHW and health facility staff to respond to confirmed cases of malaria
• Plan logistics for initial and repeat visits to response population
• Assist CHW during reactive response in adhering to the appropriate intervention protocol
• Oversee sample and electronic data collection including GPS position during reactive response
• Supervise response assistants and ensure all protocols are adhered to
• Ensure biological samples are stored and transported in an appropriate and timely manner
Minimum Qualifications
• A Degree in an appropriate field e.g. life sciences, health care etc
• Highly organized individual capable of handling sensitive research material, meeting deadlines and managing time effectively.
• Ability to work independently and to work as an effective team player
• Ability to use technology- Android smartphone or tablet
• Ability to speak Tonga and / or Illa
• Experience of a research project (desirable)
• Proven experience managing a teams and ensuring deadlines are met through production of quality work
Location, Payment, and Term
The project is based in Choma, Southern Province for an intial period of four months. Depending on funding received, this contract may be extended.
