Community Development Facilitators – Community Based Micro Finance x 1

Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on education, health and sanitation, economic empowerment, including child protection and participation. Plan International’s work is guided by a unique development approach, the Child-Centered Community Development (CCCD). Plan International Zambia has programme units in: Central, Luapula, Eastern, and province as well as in Lusaka, where the Country Office (CO) is located.
Plan International Zambia is looking for innovative, motivated self-starter individuals to fill the following vacancies:
Community Development Facilitators – Community Based Micro Finance x 1 (8) months)
The position of CDF- Microfinance is the link between Plan and the Own Savings for Asset and Wealth Creation (OSAWE) groups in the communities where Plan International Zambia implements Micro Finance activities.  He/she ensures facilitation of all the development activities done within the community and helping to improving the economic status of individual families and communities to better support children.  The incumbent will be reporting to the Micro Finance Project Coordinator and is responsible for:
  • Mobilisation and facilitation of OSAWE groups
  • Facilitate project  implementation and support scale up through design, planning, monitoring and evaluation in the assigned area of operation
  • Facilitates effective participation of children, families, communities and stakeholders in savings group activities
  • Facilitates the integration of other activities with savings groups  in the field
  • Participating in community entry process as savings groups are being introduced (involve local leadership) , feasibility studies, risk analyses, baseline surveys, phase in and phase out strategies
  • Strengthening good working relationships with all stakeholders/implementing partners; and holding regular meetings with these community structures such as Village Agent Networks
  • Enhancing community capacity building in financial inclusion.
  • Representing Plan International Zambia in all developmental meetings held in the community
  • Establish good working relations with children, families, community leadership, Community Based Organisations (CBOs), government extension staff and other stakeholders at ward and village levels
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and networks at ward and village levels
Candidates will need to demonstrate possession of:
  • Minimum qualification; Diploma in Development studies, Community Based Micro finance or related fields.
  • Two to three years practical experience in a similar role in a development organisation, especially in community based savings groups.
  • Must possess proven ability to create good working relationships with partners, donors, NGO’s and relevant line ministries
  • Good community participatory skills
  • Excellent public speaking and writing skills
  • Excellent planning, monitoring and evaluation skills.
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Must be in possession of  a  valid motor cycle  license
  • Knowledge of local languages spoken in  Central Province  will be an added advantage
  • Must be willing to live in the community where the project is being implemented
