Junior Social Media Strategist at The World Bank

The World Bank’s online channels inform the world about who we are and what we do; they raise awareness of development issues and share development knowledge with our clients. To reach a global audience in a manner that ensures transparency in its policies, programs, and projects, the Bank provides corporate information in six of its core languages – Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
The Web and Social Media unit in the External Corporate Relations department is responsible for improving the quality and presentation of information on the site, as well as for expanding its reach and relevance across the globe.
The Team is searching for a Junior Social Media strategist, who will be a key team member of Digital Governance team. The team is committed to embedding a digital layer across the World Bank Group and this role will help support this process. In this position, the Junior Social Medial Strategist will be reporting to Digital Governance Lead and/or Social Media Governance Lead.
The External Corporate Relations Web and Social Media (ECRWS) unit is looking for a Washington based Junior Social Media Strategist for a Short Term Consultancy position for 150 working days, with contract end date June 30th, 2016.
Responsibilities:
  • Administer the Bank’s corporate social media tools, HootSuite and Ubervu, on a daily basis in support of the Bank’s social media strategy. Responsible for the rollout of additional modules or updates.
  • Proactively assess new social media metric tools and HootSuite modules and how they could be used to further support the work of the Bank.
  • Working with the Digital Analytics team, conduct analysis and reporting on social media campaigns and activity; providing metrics information on all corporate channels and WBG blog platform as required.
  • Assist with managing the overall health of the World Bank’s social media channels, ensuring social media branding and communication remain consistent with overall institutional brand guidelines.
  • Improve internal understanding of social media and analytics, and provide training to staff, as assigned.
  • Keep pace with social media and internet marketing industry trends and developments.
  • Responsible for oversight and management of the ECR Digital Governance email account. This includes fielding inquires, helping governance team members stay abreast of relevant messages as they come in, and routing remaining messages to relevant teams as needed.

Desired Skills and Experience

Bachelor's degree and 2 to 3 years of experience in journalism, communications or related field. Background in higher education preferred, but not necessary.
-       In-depth knowledge of social media, particularly in social media analytics and tools. Experience in HootSuite and UberVu desirable.
-       Able to write and present creatively, clearly, and compellingly.
-       Able to work with minimal direction and supervision; independent and self-sufficient.
-       Team player, with positive and enthusiastic attitude.
-       Must be organized, detail-oriented and deadline-driven.
-       Good knowledge of graphic design packages, including Photoshop.
-       Basic project management skills. Project management certification (Prince 2, Agile) desirable.
-       Experience in international development or the development sector required.
