WaterAid is looking for a Finance Manager to play a vital role in our mission to transform lives with safe water, sanitation and hygiene for our Zambia Country Programme, in operation since 1994.

It’s hard to believe that today over 650 million people still don’t have clean, safe water and over 2.3 billion live without a toilet. The resulting diseases kill one child every minute.

WaterAid is looking for a Finance Manager to play a vital role in our mission to transform lives with safe water, sanitation and hygiene for our Zambia Country Programme, in operation since 1994.

Based in Lusaka, you will be expected to provide strategic leadership and take responsibility for all finance functions within the country programme. This will be achieved by reviewing, improving on or developing policies, procedures and systems to ensure sound financial management and internal controls. These will include supporting partner organisations to operate according to WaterAid’s financial management framework. The role will assist in the capacity building of WaterAid partner organisations to undertake finance activities that align with to WaterAid and donor requirements.

To be successful, you will need to have a Bachelor of Accountancy degree or equivalent, a fully completed accounting professional qualification/certification e.g. ACCA or CIMA, and membership of the Zambia Institute of Certified Accountants (ZICA). A Master’s degree in Finance shall be an added advantage. A minimum of 7 years in finance and accountancy in a senior position in a major organisation is required. The role demands the ability to think strategically, with excellent planning and prioritisation skills, but also the ability to get things done. Experience of working in an international NGO will be advantageous.

Job Title: Finance Manager Mobile Money

Responsibilities

• Interpret accounting/financial information to evaluate the financial performance to executives.
• Drive MTN Group Audit process to ensure all Reporting requirements are met and in compliance with IAS/IFRS.
• Evaluation of management accounting systems, procedures and practices and make appropriate recommendations for modifications and improvements and ensure adherence to accounting standards
• Ensure proper cross system integration between IFS, Ericsson and all other system interfaces.
• Maintenance and review of monthly audit file and ensure adherence to accounting standards
• Ensure Trail balance accuracy and consistency at all times before final monthly Pack is finalized.
• Ascertain integrity of financial and Non-financial data to provide a basis for weekly/monthly forecasts.
• Set up Reporting tools to capture deviation and communicate effectively any Risks to management.
• Create effective processes for adequate controls over all financial transactions and streamlining systems.
• Develop the business plan based on well thought assumptions and rigorous environmental and competitor analysis.
• Implement the appropriate operational risk and frameworks in Mobile Money, thus ensuring that appropriate governance processes and structures are put in place.
• Prepare and ensure all taxes and related returns are paid and submitted on time in accordance to tax laws.
• Prepare statutory reports according to IAS/IFRS, and also take lead in timely board pack preparations.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum Professional Accounting Degree or equivalent qualification– ACCA/CIMA.
• Five (5) years’ experience in banking/payments and financial management.
• Conversant with IAS/IFRS and Zambian tax laws.
• Must have a strong bias for action and be deadline driven.
• Ability to influence and secure buy-in of senior executives.
• Proven financial Management and audit experience added advantage
