It’s hard to believe that today over 650 million people still don’t have clean, safe water and over 2.3 billion live without a toilet. The resulting diseases kill one child every minute.
WaterAid is looking for a Finance Manager to play a vital role in our mission to transform lives with safe water, sanitation and hygiene for our Zambia Country Programme, in operation since 1994.
Based in Lusaka, you will be expected to provide strategic leadership and take responsibility for all finance functions within the country programme. This will be achieved by reviewing, improving on or developing policies, procedures and systems to ensure sound financial management and internal controls. These will include supporting partner organisations to operate according to WaterAid’s financial management framework. The role will assist in the capacity building of WaterAid partner organisations to undertake finance activities that align with to WaterAid and donor requirements.
To be successful, you will need to have a Bachelor of Accountancy degree or equivalent, a fully completed accounting professional qualification/certification e.g. ACCA or CIMA, and membership of the Zambia Institute of Certified Accountants (ZICA). A Master’s degree in Finance shall be an added advantage. A minimum of 7 years in finance and accountancy in a senior position in a major organisation is required. The role demands the ability to think strategically, with excellent planning and prioritisation skills, but also the ability to get things done. Experience of working in an international NGO will be advantageous.
