APPOINTMENT OF TECHNICAL MANAGER
The Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA), a statutory body under the Ministry of Higher Education, was established by the ZAQA Act No. 13 of 2011 to provide for the registration and accreditation of qualifications, and ensure that standards and registered qualifications are internationally comparable. ZAQA is currently seeking the services of a suitable person to fill the position of:
JOB TITLE: TECHNICAL MANAGER (01)
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director – Technical.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
The Technical Manager is responsible for managing the following processes:
i. Setting of standards to ensure that registered and accredited qualifications in Zambia are internationally comparable;
ii. Publication of ZAQA technical documents related to the Zambia Qualifications Framework;
iii. Implementation of the Zambia Qualifications Framework level descriptors;
iv. Implementation of the guidelines for the registration and accreditation of qualifications in Zambia;
v. Implementation of the policy and criteria for the recognition of prior learning in Zambia;
vi. Implementation of the guidelines for determining national occupational standards in Zambia;
vii. Development and Maintenance of a database of all learning achievements in Zambia;
viii. Verification and evaluation of qualifications;
ii. Publication of ZAQA technical documents related to the Zambia Qualifications Framework;
iii. Implementation of the Zambia Qualifications Framework level descriptors;
iv. Implementation of the guidelines for the registration and accreditation of qualifications in Zambia;
v. Implementation of the policy and criteria for the recognition of prior learning in Zambia;
vi. Implementation of the guidelines for determining national occupational standards in Zambia;
vii. Development and Maintenance of a database of all learning achievements in Zambia;
viii. Verification and evaluation of qualifications;
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES
The successful candidate should possess:
i. Grade 12 School Certificate
ii. A Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technical or a Social Science discipline earned from a registered University;
iii. A Master’s Degree in Science, Technical or a Social Science discipline earned from a registered University is an added advantage;
iv. At least four (4) years’ experience in standards setting, registration and accreditation processes, two (2) of which should be at management level;
v. Experience in qualification evaluations in the education sector is an added advantage.
