Chemonics International, a U.S.-based international development consulting firm, is seeking technical specialists and professional support staff for an anticipated USAID-funded Integrated Nutrition, Agriculture, and WASH project in Zambia. Jointly-managed by the Economic Development, Health and Education Offices, this project will assist the Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) to reduce stunting in Eastern and Central Provinces. The activity will work to increase access to water and sanitation, to improve the productivity and capacity of high-value, nutrient-rich value chains, and to increase household knowledge and support for new eating and child feeding habits through multi-level and multi-sector engagement. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people in their communities and around the world.
We are seeking agriculture technical specialists with experience in the following areas:
- Productivity and commercialization of grain and legume crops or small livestock/poultry, with a focus on smallholder farmers
- Post-harvest handling, storage and processing
- Input and output market linkages
- Climate Smart Agriculture/conservation agriculture
- Agriculture finance
- Private sector investment
We are seeking nutrition technical specialists with experience in the following areas:
- Essential Nutrition Actions
- Household and community-level stunting prevention and treatment
- Nutrition-focused program management
- Multi-sectoral programming expertise with a focus on reducing stunting
We are seeking WASH technical specialists with experience in the following areas:
- Essential Hygiene Actions
- Access to sustainable water supply and sanitation
- Safe play spaces
- Community-led Total Sanitation and/or School-led Total Sanitation
Qualifications for technical specialists:
- Advanced degree required in agriculture, international development, public health, nutrition, or a related field
- Minimum of seven years of experience designing, implementing, and managing agriculture/nutrition/WASH programs in Zambia
- Experience with USAID or other donor–funded projects, ideally large multi-sectoral projects
- Ability to collaborate effectively with the private sector, government entities, community leaders, and international donors
- Fluency in English required
We are also seeking professional staff in the following areas:

- Finance and Operations
- Gender Specialists
- Communications
- Social Behavior Change Communication – in areas of agriculture, nutrition, and/or WASH
- Organizational Capacity Building
Qualifications for other professional staff:
Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist
- Master’s degree or other higher degree in a relevant subject matter area
- At least six years of progressively more responsible international work experience
- Experience in designing both quantitative and qualitative evaluation methodologies and tools, including household level surveys
- Demonstrated experience in carrying out USAID monitoring and evaluation activities such as assisting partners to develop performance management plans (PMPs) and reporting indicators, and plan and lead evaluations for large, complex projects
- Knowledge of data analysis software (SAS, SPSS) is required
- Prior experience in Zambia and proficiency in English required
Finance/Operations Manager
- Master’s degree in accounting preferred; minimum of bachelor’s
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in accounting, financial management and procurement is required
- Demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience with USAID regulations and control systems
- Seven years of experience in accounting on complex development projects; experience in working with projects that have grants under contracts mechanisms is highly preferred
- Prior experience in Zambia and proficiency in English required
