ZGF would now like to hire a Research and New Initiatives Intern to support the ZGF programme team in the research and communication of special projects.
The candidate will provide daily support in managing ZGF’s independent project ‘The Social Accountability and You’[SAY] website, its related social media platforms and/or as well as any additional projects undertaken by the programmes team. S/he will also support research into a wide range of projects relating to content, communication strategies and policies that contribute to the efficient running of the SAY website. The candidate is expected to have some knowledge of the policy and legislative context of Zambia as well as a working knowledge of web based content management tools.
Roles and responsibilities include:
- Strong research and writing skills; ability to summarize ideas (essential)
- Researching laws, policies and expert research on pre-defined thematic areas
- Contributing to the drafting of original content
- Managing and maintaining social media platforms under the supervision of programme staff
- Uploading and cataloguing content on a web-based document management system
- Assisting with procurement and logistics for events
- Supporting the programmes team in maintaining and managing WordPress sites
- Supporting communications team’s social media management strategy
Individuals must be / must have:
- Strong research and writing skills; ability to summarize ideas (essential)
- Good understanding of the Zambian legislative/policy context (essential)
- Knowledge of websites and passionate about various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)(essential)
- Computer and Internet/search engine savvy (essential)
- Ability to manage tasks and work to deadline (essential)
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Word and Excel (advantage)
- Ability to manage MS SharePoint (advantage)
- Have a good knowledge of D Space (advantage)
- Graphic design skills Photoshop or web based tools (advantage)
Internship period is six(6) months
Expected start date is Monday 19th October 2015
