Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Economic Security and Youth Empowerment, including Child Protection and Participation. Plan International Zambia has programme units in; Central, Luapula, and Eastern Provinces including in Lusaka, where the Country Office is located.
We are looking for an experienced, innovative, motivated, self-starter individuals to fill the following vacancy:
1 Programme Coordinator Child Protection & Participation – Eastern Chipata (1)
Position Description
Reporting to the Programme Manager Child Protection and Participation with a dotted reporting line to the Programme Unit Manager, s/he will coordinates child protection and participation activities in the Programme Unit (PU) in order to ensure a high level of interaction between Plan International Zambia, communities, and other stakeholders in child protection issues in line with the Child Centered Community Development approach. Key responsibilities include;
- Participating in the planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of child protection programmes in the PU.
- Identifying and applying effective measures with and for communities to realise their rights and manage their own development
- Promoting advocacy and Plan’s work on child protection, child rights, child participation and gender in the community
- Identifying and applying effective measures for children to realise their rights and their full potential
- Identifying and drawing on other sources of expertise and support to maximize the impact of Plans work on child protection, child participation, child rights and gender
- Designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of child centered community development projects
- Providing technical advice, backstopping and capacity building to field staff, partners, community members, community based organisations and community volunteers in child rights, child protection, gender and community empowerment
- Facilitating and support implementation of child protection policies and practices at the community level including promotion of child participation in child protection related activities to ensure proper awareness is raised on child protection issues and that children participate at all levels.
Individual Specifications:
- University Degree in Social Sciences/Development Studies
- 2-4 years’ experience in the NGO sector; working with children and communities; managing child-related protection issues.
- Experience in writing project proposals and grants reporting
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Good communications skills
- Time management, administrative, and organizational skills
