As the project manager, your job is to plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of the DREAMS project. Project manager will report to the Executive Director and work closely with both M&E Manager and Finance and Admin Manager to make sure that the scope and direction of the project is on schedule and that the project is getting the necessary input from all support departments. DREAMS project manager coordinates all activities of the project, from planning, implementation selection, to completion and working closely with M&E with evaluation.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all aspects of the DREAMS Project including participation in recruitment, supervision and capacity building of all staff; review project proposal materials and develop a detailed implementation and monitoring plan and adapt program to changing context as needed. Discuss and agree with program staff, RH service providers and other stakeholders on proposed activities, implementation and monitoring plan, roles and responsibilities of each team member.
- Ensure that all grant required activities, indicators and objectives are successfully met within the project timeframe and allocated budget
- Work with team on timely procurement and delivery of required commodities to avoid stock-outs
- Work with finance, HR/admin and other key support departments to ensure smooth implementation of project activities
- With the Executive Director, M&E Manager and Project Coordinators, constantly work to develop ideas/proposals for new activities in SRH
- Work with RH Officers closely to update project monitoring plans and discuss challenges/solutions
- Working with M&E Manager, design and conduct surveys and assessment to inform program strategy and approach
- Schedule regular site visits for monitoring and supervision where possible to ensure quality of services, accurate data collection and verify consumption rates of services.
- Provide guidance to M&E department on compiling RH data and RH reports
- Regularly analyze data in conjunction with RH staff in order to build their skills in tracking reproductive health trends and developing appropriate responses.
- Work with M&E to review MIS tools for any gaps in data collection and reporting
- Regularly update training schedule and ensure trainings are conducted as proposed to the donors
- Coordinate with other program departments to ensure integrated implementation of project activities.
- Attend TWGs on sexual and reproductive health at MOH and any other coordination meetings and work closely with other partners in RH ensuring access to the services and to avoiding duplication of efforts
- Through this project, provide conducive environment for youth to affect informed and responsible choices and rights regarding their Sexual and Reproductive Health.
- Strengthening medically safe-health, legally protected, socially tolerant and widely educated practices in Lusaka and Chingola
- Ensure that the project leads to the Empowerment of youths and identified adults to develop and sustain the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to make safe choices about sexuality by adapting and encouraging responsible behaviors.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Leadership Skills: You will have to keep your employees motivated, resolve conflicts and make hard decisions for your employees.
- Time Management: You will be working with employees, clients and management, often spinning multiple plates at once.
- Math and Budgeting: Project managers are expected to keep and maintain a budget in almost every field. You will need to be confident in using math skills to make sure you know how your project budget is performing.
- Analytical Skills: You will also need analytical skills to be able to solve problems that may come up during a typical work day. You will be analyzing data and making decisions that affect the project on a regular basis.
- Bachelors degree in project management, public health, development studies, demography. Masters degree is an added advantage
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Not less than 2 years experience
- Familiarity with health care delivery in Zambia.
- General understanding of computers and appreciation for information systems theory and design.
- Analytical skills to identify problems and offer solutions.
- Political and people skills to effectively manage change.
- Business acumen and insight into clinical processes.
