Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Economic Security and Youth Empowerment, including Child Protection and Participation. Plan International Zambia has programme units in; Central, Luapula, and Eastern Provinces including in Lusaka, where the Country Office is located.
We are looking for an experienced, innovative, motivated, self-starter individual to fill the following vacancy:
Water & Sanitation Programme Coordinator (1) Luapula Programme Unit – MANSA
Job purpose:
This position is being established to support delivery of Plan International Zambia’s Water and Sanitation Country Programme through projects (Strengthening District Management to Improve Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Education in schools).
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Appraising, planning, designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating of WATSAN and other related projects
- Documentation, reporting and dissemination of outcomes and impact of WATSAN and other projects,
- Technical support and supervision of the WATSAN and other projects,
- Mobilisation, and effective utilisation and management of project resources,
- Contributing to strategic leadership of WATSAN and other related projects in the PU.
- Identification of capacity building needs of community members including children and youths on the project to ensure competence in selection, planning and management of project components
- Designing and implementing capacity building activities to ensure that beneficiaries understand the importance of Integrating CLTS, SLTS and UCLTS and climate smart water supply to reduce child morbidity rate and effects of climate change.
- Establishing partnerships with NGO’s , government entities and various stakeholders to leverage resources, increase local resource mobilisation and ensure long term sustainability of the project activities,
- Documenting achievements and best practices in project for internal and external circulation through reports, most successful case (MSC) stories and case studies, and
Individual Specifications include:
- Minimum qualification; Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences, Water Engineering and related fields.
- Three years practical experience in a similar role in a development organisation.
- Must possess proven ability to create good working relationships with partners, donors, NGO’s and relevant line ministries
- Excellent public speaking and writing skills
- Excellent project, planning, monitoring and evaluation skills.
- Advanced computer skills
- Posses a driving license
- Knowledge of local language
