Society for Family Health (SFH) seeks experienced candidates to fill the positions of “Communications Assistants” The successful candidates will play an important role in the start-up, development and scale-up of SFH Zambia’s demand generation activities for Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) services in the respective districts. Under the leadership of Communication Coordinators, they will be primarily responsible for planning and implementing Interpersonal Communication (IPC) and demand generation activities in the district to increase access to VMMC services at the Government health facilities.
They will serve a critical role in the implementation of the IPC program; supervision of Health Promoters (HPs) and Super HPs to ensure adherence to quality assurance components of communication and build capacity of the team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
i. Interpersonal Communications
- Planning and implementing phase wise recruitment (in consultation with Neighborhood Health Committee), training and refresher trainings of HPs and Super HPs working in the District.
- Planning and map areas for IPC mobilization/HP distribution within health facility catchment in consultation with NHC, providers and Super HPs.
- Providing technical support Super HPs and HPs in monthly planning of IPC mobilization
- Conducting, monitoring and supervising of IPC activities to ensure adherence to defined IPC Quality Assurance standards and projections.
- Check, verify/back check and ensure timely submission of timesheets and MIS communication reports from HPs and Health Facilities (DAR and Referral).
- Writing monthly summary report of the activities performed by the District and submit to CC
- Conducting fortnightly HP meetings to plan IPC activities and give refresher in area of improvement for the team.
- Working closely and in consultation with GRZ (Health promotion office) at District and community level to complement District VMMC priorities.
- Ensuring the achievement of projected target and number of VMMC service uptake.
- Determining quarterly IPC/promotion materials and IPC forms needed for his/her district and ensure effective utilization by SHPs and HPs.
- Contributing to work planning and report writing at regional level.
ii. Mid Media/Mass Media/National Campaigns
- Support CCs in coordinating regional special events in consultation with other stakeholders (GRZ, CBOs, FBOs, etc.) and monitor VMMC mass media adverts and promotional activities (road, shows, MVU, street dramas, etc) and ensuring proper use of campaign materials.
iii. Any other related duties as delegated by the supervisor.
Required Qualification & Experience
- Diploma in Marketing or Social Sciences
- 1-2 year experience in community mobilization in health programs.
Required Skills and Attributes
- Computer literate, especially with the Microsoft Office package
- Excellent communications, facilitation and public speaking skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Team player
