Engineer - Ministry of Mines, Energy and Water Development

The OPPPI is a unit in the Ministry of Mines, Energy and Water Development whose role is to promote private sector investment In the development of power projects in Zambia
In undertaking its work the OPPPI identifies projects; undertakes feasibility studies; develops an appropriate solicitation strategy and documents for developers; procures developers and facilitates negotiations for the implementation Agreements
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of an Engineer in the Office for Promoting Private Power Investment (OPPPI).
Professional Qualifications
• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil and registered with Engineering Institute of Zambia
• Minimum of five (05) years’ work experience in a Hydropower related Industry
• Self motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
• Must be willing to work long hours both at the office and away from home.
Main Accountabilities
• Directing pre-feasibility/feasibility studies in the power sector
• Ensuring that Hydropower and transmission line projects are designed and developed according to set standards
• Work with relevant Government entities in fostering private sector participation in the electricity sector
• Carry out any other assigned duties from time to time
