CONSULTANCY – SPS AND FOOD SAFETY

REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST (CONSULTING SERVICES)
Consultancy to establish baseline data on level of awareness of SPS and food safety among traders, processors and producers and dissemination of results.
ZAMBIA
TRADE AND INSTITUTIONAL CAPACITY BUILDING IN THE APICULTURE SECTOR (TICBAS) PROJECT
The Netherlands Development Organisation-SNV Zambia Office has received financing from the African Development Bank under the Africa Trade Fund Initiative (AfTRa) toward the cost of the Trade and Institutional Capacity Building In the Apiculture Sector (TICBAS) project, and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this grant to payments under the contract for Consultancy to establish baseline data on level of awareness of SPS and food safety among traders, processors and producers and dissemination of results.
Objectives of the Assignment
The objective of this assignment is to conduct a rapid assessment to establish the baseline of current level of awareness, knowledge gaps and practices on SPS and food safety amongst the value chain actors.
Duration of the Assignment
The period of the assignment will be for 3 months. The assignment is scheduled to begin in August 2015 and shall be concluded by the end of November 2015.
Application
The Netherlands Development Organisation-SNV Zambia Office now invites eligible individual consultants to express their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills, etc.).
Eligibility
Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank’s “Rules and Procedures for the use of Consultants” 2008 Edition Revised in 2012 which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org. The following are the required qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Agri-business, Agricultural Economics, or related fields;
  • At least ten years of work in the fields of data collection and analysis or agriculture in Zambia;
  • Demonstrated experience in Data collection techniques and analysis, formation of baseline and end line studies (applicants must submit samples of previous work as well as references from previous contractors);
