SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

The Southern African AIDS Trust, Zambia (SAT Zambia) is a non-profit making organisation that promotes community systems for HIV and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights in Zambia. SAT Zambia is a part of the Southern African AIDS Trust (SAT), a regional organisation that supports programmes in 6 countries (Botswana; Malawi Mozambique; Tanzania; Zambia and Zimbabwe) to connect community voices and experiences to national , regional and international networks and brings global best practice to communities through strategic partnerships in the HIV response.
The following employment opportunity has arisen at SAT Zambia and applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates: Senior Accountant
Role
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the efficient and effective execution of all accounting duties of SAT Zambia and these include:
Maintenance of accounting records and processing of all financial data through Pastel Evolution accounting system.
Preparation of timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports as required by SAT and cooperating partners.
Provide technical support for the accounting operations of SAT Zambia staff and project based finance staff.
In consultation with SAT Zambia Team, take a lead in budget preparation and cashflow management.
Ensure that all financial records are up to date and there is clear documented trail for audit purposes.
Support the Country Director to ensure compliance with relevant institutional policies, Partner Agreements. tax and other statutory requirements.
Supervise SAT Zambia accounting staff.
Preparation for and overseeing audit processes of SAT Zambia.
Personal Attributes, Experience and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will
Have formal University level education in financial accounting or other recognised professional accounting qualification such as full ACCA, CIMA or ZICA with at least five years of work experience in a position of similar responsibility in financial management.
Experience in the management of multiple- currency donor accounts.
A high level of computer skills especially in the application of spreadsheets and PASTEL. Knowledge and experience on the use of PASTEL Evolution will be a distinct advantage.
Demonstrated skills, abilities, and experience of managing donor funded projects and sub-grant agreements.
Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and/or experience in accounting, financial planning, reporting and managing audits
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Registered member of Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA)
Have good analytical skills, an excellent standard of written and spoken English including the ability to write dear and concise reports.
Be self- motivated, able to work under pressure and deliver on deadlines.
Be a disciplined and ethical individual with high standards of integrity, trustworthiness and accountability.
