Data Officer

The Indaba Agriculture Policy Research Institute (IAPRI) is a leading Zambian and Regional Think Tank. It carries out high quality research in the agricultural sector, and communicates the results of this research to policy makers and other stakeholders. The purpose is to contribute to the development and implementation of better agricultural policy in Zambia.
Indaba Agricultural Policy Research Institute it’s currently looking for a suitably qualified person to fill in the position of;
Data Officer
Reporting to: IT and Data Manager
IAPRI seeks to hire a Zambian national to fill the position of Data Officer (DO). This person will be responsible for assisting the Data Manager to meet all the data needs of the Institute. This person will be responsible for collection and entering of daily, weekly and monthly data from various sources including online platforms, markets, government departments, private companies etc. In addition, he or she will be responsible for coordinating IAPRI’s provincial and selected districts data collection exercise. Working in collaboration with the IT and Data manager produce a monthly market report for selected products.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to and under the supervision of the Data Manager, the DO will:
• Undertake data collection activities for both primary and secondary datasets;
• Supervise provincial data collectors and ensure that data is being updated at agreed intervals;
• Produce a monthly bulletin highlighting price movements for selected commodities based on the commodity price database.
• Conduct quarterly spot checks on all data sources especially those located in provincial centers.
• Under the guidance of the IT and Data Manager, the DA will verify the submitted data and perform first level validation.
Qualifications and Experience:
• A minimum of a Diploma in Computer Studies, Agricultural Sciences or related discipline;
• At least 3 years of relevant work experience in data entry and management
• Hands on experience in mobile data collection
• Detail oriented and must possess a high level of accuracy.
• Excellent writing and communication skills, with fluency in both oral and written English;
• Ability to communicate effectively with various data sources;
• A degree in Computer Studies, Agricultural Sciences or related discipline will be an added advantage.
Other Desirable Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience with the use of statistical software applications such as CSPro, STATA,SPSS
• Possess the ability to adopt to new technologies.
