Country Representative Zambia

  • Deadline : 17 Jul 2015
  • Salary : Competitive with excellent benefits
Over a third of the population in Zambia do not have access to clean, safe water and over half the population do not have access to adequate sanitation. As a result, more than 5,000 children die every year from diarrhoea caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation.

WaterAid is an international non-governmental organisation whose vision is of a world where everyone, everywhere has access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) – including the world’s poorest and most excluded communities.

We are looking for a Country Representative to play a vital role in our mission to transform lives in Zambia. Working within the Senior Management Team, the Country Representative will steer the development and implementation of five-year strategies for achieving universal and sustainable WASH solutions in Zambia. The Country Representative will empower staff and partners to influence and support public and private institutions involved in these efforts, helping them to improve their policies, financing and practices.

To be successful, you’ll need to be an influencer and strategic systems thinker, with a clear vision of what needs to change, what drives change and how change can be supported. You will be a proven, highly experienced and capable leader, able to rally a highly capable team behind a common vision and purpose. You will have a sound knowledge of the key relevant development sectors, preferably the WASH sector or health, education and environment. You will understand the importance of sound financial management.

By 2030 we want everyone, everywhere to have clean water, sanitation and hygiene. We need you to help us make it happen. If you bring your expertise, passion and professionalism, you will not only gain personally, but will also contribute to wider poverty reduction and human development.
