MARKETING ANALYST

AfriMedia is looking for a data analyst with a passion for Internet technology and analytics to help drive informed marketing decisions. As a member of the our Business Marketing team, you will provide timely, actionable insights to support all things business marketing related at AfriMedia. You will enjoy working with one of the richest data sets in the world, cutting edge technology, and will have the ability to see your insights turned into action on a regular basis.

The Marketing Analyst will specifically support regional business marketing initiatives for all our African clients. As a member of the team, you will create analyses and drive recommendations to help make AfriMedia smarter about how specific verticals can leverage our solutions to drive their business objectives. You will collaborate closely with our client’s Strategists and Vertical Leads, as well as cross-functionally with many teams across the company and from our clients, located around the globe.

The ideal candidate will have a background in a quantitative or technical field, experience working with large data sets, and some experience in data-driven decision making. Successful candidates combine exceptional intellectual curiosity and analytical abilities with strong time management and communication skills.

This position is located in Ndola, Zambia.

Responsibilities

Support marketing team by identifying industry best practices for using cloud marketing platforms.
Develop quantitative analyses, ad hoc reports, and models to support decision making.
Design and implement reporting dashboards that track key metrics and performance trends, and provide actionable insights.
Identify timely actionable insights, provide recommendations and influence the direction of our payment solutions product and its monetization.
Produce visuals (charts, infographics, videos) and presentations to clearly and effectively communicate findings to internal stakeholders.
Requirements

BA/BS in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics or related quantitative field. Advanced degree preferred
Data Gathering experience:
Experience with SQL or other programming language.
Development experience in at least one scripting language (PHP, Python, Perl, etc.) preferred.
Direct experience working with large data-sets (Hadoop, Hive/Pig, Teradata) a plus
Data Exploration: Excel pivot tables required. Tableau preferred
Data Analysis: Basic understanding of statistical analysis. R, VBA, Matlab, Stata, SPSS or SAS preferred
Visualization: Experience with Tableau, R or Excel.
Data ETL and Automation: Familiarity with Python and UNIX Shell preferred
Ability to share/present complex results of analysis in a clear and compelling manner that inspires action
Statistical and data analysis/modeling experience
Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, drive change, and collaborate effectively with a variety of individuals and organisations
Track record of operating independently and collaboratively, demonstrating creativity, being detail-oriented, and delivering results in a highly organized manner Familiarity with survey research methods and considerations
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
