Maintenance Manager at Cargill - Zambia

Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for managing company assets within all applicable laws and procedures while meeting or exceeding facility and corporate objectives. To provide leadership, technical knowledge and maintenance experience toward achieving optimum plant reliability performance, maintenance costs, maintenance efficiencies and engaged, high performing employees. To provide an environment conducive for change and innovation and be proactive in matters that involve future reliability matters.
Job specifications and other duties include
  • Maintenance & Reliability:- utilizes technical skills and experience to manage process and equipment reliability, availability and operational effectiveness. Organizes, plans, leads, controls and coordinates maintenance activities. Ensures compliance with accepted maintenance and inventory procedures. Maximizes and utilizes suppliers/contractors capabilities. Reviews existing work methods and align methods in accordance to M&R Centre of Excellence(COE) practices.
  • Plant Operations:-makes plant tours, reviews relevant production information, collects and handles departmental improvement ideas and promotes an innovative environment. Ensures compliance with all business unit/ facility policies and procedures as related to safety, housekeeping, HACCP, ISO 9002 and GMO
  • Process Quality:-ensures work is performed in accordance to specifications and standards. Monitors standards and goals.
  • Capital Projects:-actively contributes to capital planning process(project identification and scheduling), prepares relevant capital commitment information for assigned project work. Provide necessary input that affect plant and /or asset reliability and maintenance costs. Plans, directs and manages occasionally assigned capital projects typically up to $500, 000
  • Food Safety Environment: executes and champions Cargill environment, health and safety procedures in the maintenance department and plant operations. Oversees and ensures department’s compliance with the facility ‘s FEHS plans(including proper employee training, workplace inspections and total safety meetings among others). Manages risk/ loss potential to personnel  equipment and plant operations
  • Employee Engagement- Demonstrates positive two way communications, fair and consistent administration of company policies and procedures, responsive to employee concerns and problems, Gives regular feedback and follows performance management process guidelines for ratings and   compensation on the one- up process. Coaches and counsels each employee for job and career direction including those on
  • Financial:- effectively manages cost. Leads the managing of maintenance budget.
  • Administrative:-assures required functions are performed in a timely and accurate manner and according to policies and procedures. Sees to optimum utilization of the  facility Asset Management system.

Minimum Requirements
  • Engineering Degree(B.SC. or higher)/ Proven capability to work at this level(additional years of industrial processing and engineering , to compensate lower degree of Engineering education
