Product Manager - Airtel Zambia

Airtel Zambia is the number one of the service provider covering every district in Zambia and offering the widest range of tariffs & Value Added Services on the market suiting all our subscribers.
Job Purpose
The role is responsible for ensuring the quality, consistency and value of the services/solutions delivered to clients and also to internal stakeholders.
Reporting to: Airtel Money Director 
The duties will be:
Sales Support
• To constantly enhance and innovate existing product capabilities to address changing customer requirements and increase product competitiveness.
• Promotes use of strategic solutions and offerings by the business and provides support to sales/proposal teams during the launch phase of the life cycle.
• Participates in solution selling activities to ensure that marketing plans align with sales and launch plans
• Ensure all existing and new deals have positive revenue contributions to the business
• Deliver, in partnership with Sales, the yearly Airtel Money revenue goals and deliverables
• Conduct / attend customer presentation with sales teams, particularly for complex customer requirements
• Support the sales team by developing solutions for multi-product deals and creating pricing options for proposals in order to ensure profitability levels are maintained
• The role holder will be expected to actively participate in the sales process for key clients and will also act as sponsor/steering committee member for key mandates.
Product Development
• New Product Development and Enhancements
• Product Documentation
• Assist in the creation of new products and enhancement of existing ones, with the supporting business case for the required development.
• Analyse product capabilities of competitor banks to develop product offering.
• Communicate new product updates and enhancements, market trends to the Sales and Development Teams
• Draft Product Documentation for review and approval by required stakeholders (i.e. Product Brochures, Customer Agreements, Set-Up Forms, etc)
Product Implementation
• Proactively reduces the time to first revenue and expands the value of revenue defended
• Interfaces and participates in business development discussions across cross-functional teams and internal and external executive managements to ensure consistency in solution development and implementation.
• Support to Sales and Development Teams, Operations and IT and other key stakeholders
• Work with the Development team on product implementation
Product Support
• Understand the Airtel Money’s infrastructure to ensure that operations and systems are able to support the products launched.
• Work with Technology and Operations to ensure that the functionalities are as per required specifications
• Work with Vendor Management to source vendor partners to provide a service enabling the product to be taken to market
Product Performance Monitoring
• Assist in monitoring product performance in terms of volume, value and revenue
• Work with concerned units to ensure product MIS is in place for accurate management report.
Required skills and Knowledge
• Bachelor’s Degree, Business and / or IT related degree preferred
• Strategic Management / Business Leadership
Relevant Experience (Type of experience and minimum number of years)
• IT knowledge/experience preferred
• Exposure to sales or marketing preferred
• Superior software skills, especially in MS Excel, Access, and Word
• Mobile Banking experience a distinct advantage
