Internal Auditor , National Food and Nutrition Commission



The National Food and Nutrition Commission (NFNC) is a statutory body established under an Act of Parliament NO.41 of 1967, CAP 308. It is a promotional and advisory to the government on matters concerning food and nutrition. The Institution seeks to recruit a suitably qualified, experienced and competent individual to be based in Lusaka for the position of Internal Auditor.
Job Description
Under the delegated authority of management of NFNC and administrative supervision by the Executive Director the successful candidate will be responsible for helping management to fulfill its duties as effectively and efficiently as possible including safeguarding of assets. In particular, they will assist management in monitoring the design and proper functioning of internal control policies and procedures.
Specific duties:
  • To prepare Annual Internal Audit Work plans in order to monitor achievement of Audit objectives.
  • To undertake timely pre-audit and post-audit assignments in order to assess the effectiveness of the internal controls.
  • Managing the formulation and implementation of appropriate Internal Audit policies in order to provide a framework for effective internal controls in the Commission.
  • Manages timely reviews of internal control systems in order to address weaknesses and improve accountability for the Institution’s resources
  • Helping the organization to accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
  • Providing insight and recommendations based Ofl analysis and assessments of data and business processes.
  • Responsible for conducting performance audits, as well as special investigations and studies, identifying control breakdowns and establishing financial losses.
  • Advising management and the Board of Directors and other personnel, designed to provide reasonable assurance regarding the achievement of the following core objectives for which all businesses strive:
    i. Effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
    ii. Reliability of financial and management reporting.
    iii. Compliance with laws and regulations.
    iv. Safeguarding of Assets.
  • To ensure work is in accordance with the professional standards relevant to internal auditing contained in the Government Auditing Standards, including those applicable to the independence of internal auditors.
Reporting
With administrative reporting to the Executive Director, all audit reports of the internal auditor, as well as the annual internal audit work plan, will be made available to the NFNC Management and the NFNC Board of Directors.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Must hold a college degree and/ or ACCA or CIMA or an equivalent qualification.
  • Must be registered with a recognized professional body and hold appropriate professional certification.
  • Must possess a minimum of five years (5) professional experience in a similar position
  • Must have commitment to integrity and accountability
  • Must be computer literate
