ROLE: Special Education Intern
LOCATION: Lusaka, Zambia
COMPENSATION: Volunteer

Summary of Position:
The Sani Foundation is a Zambian organisation with a vision to facilitate the full inclusion of persons with intellectual disabilities (PIDs) in both rural and urban areas of Zambia into all aspects of society. The Sani Foundation is currently piloting the Sunshine Zambia Project The Sunshine Zambia Project which provides relevant and inclusive education and skills training that will provide these adolescents and young adults with occupational skills for independence or employment within their community.
The detailed responsibilities include but are not limited to those below:
- Teaching of relevant skills to young adults with intellectual disabilities
- Maintaining a close relationship with member’s families and care-givers.
- To participate in curriculum development, ISP assessments and monitoring of members’ progress.
- Work closely with the any Special Education Specialists
- Participate in certain aspects of fund-raising activities when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Special Education, Adult Education or Social Work
- Committed and passionate for results
- Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational, computer and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Willingness to learn new things
- Able to meet commitments and deadlines
- Able to communicate effectively with team members and management
- Must have excellent writing skills.
