Position Description: BioCarbon Partners (BCP) is a dynamic African-registered and headquartered REDD+ project development and management company. The organization is currently recruiting a Senior Field Technician to support program activities in Eastern Province. The candidate will be required to work independently in remote areas.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Ability to use GPS tracking and data recording on Android smart phone.
- Good knowledge of MS Office suite or similar software
- Experienced Driver with off-road and defensive driving skills
- Motor Cycle driving experience preferable.
- First Aid Trained
- Minimum 3 years’ field work experience and setting up of bush camps, Experienced Geo techs will be considered.
- Team Player
- Ability to supervise novice teams in forest infrastructure projects (roads, fire management).
- Ability to work in remote areas for long periods of time
- Excellent communication skills, local language knowledge will be an added advantage
- Logistics experience including vehicle and equipment management, work planning and equipment sourcing.
Working Conditions:
BCP are looking for experienced Field technicians to assist with Conservancy infrastructure development, general logistics, driving, procurement , collection of field data using Android smart phone, camp building (tented camps), supervision of local labour force. This person must be energetic and willing to venture for long periods into forest areas. Will be based at Rufunsa Conservancy working on a Rosta system (10 days on, 4 days off)
Required Competencies:
- Minimum two years relevant experience.
- Driver’s license and ability to drive 4×4 vehicles off-road.
- Excellent analytical skills including advanced use of MS Excel and other spreadsheet software
- Good report writing skills
- Team player with ability to interact with people from different cultures.
- Ability to work in remote areas for long periods of time
- Excellent communication skills, local language knowledge will be an added advantage.
