Job Title: Process Operations Coordinator
Lumwana Mine, Solwezi, Zambia.
Reporting to: Process Operations Superintendent
Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the North Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Process Operations Coordinator.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Process Operations Superintendent, you will be responsible for ensuring effective operation of all sections of the processing plant, the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and to ensure plant utilisation is optimised safely and efficiently. Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities
- Effective operation of all sections of the processing plant.
- Day to day coordination and provision of allied services in support of the shift operations teams.
- Responsible for staff scheduling including section rotations, employee training, employee annual leave and back-up for absent employees.
- Coordination of mill relining activities on the SAG mill, Ball mill and Regrind mill including supervision of contract reline crews.
- Timely and efficient coordination of copper concentrate dispatch operations.
- Ensure effective management of water into and out of the process operations.
- Coordination of operation, maintenance and development of the Tailings Storage Facility.
- Minimise costs through efficient management of labour, resources and services. Ensure effective utilization of departmental mobile plant and equipment in accordance with plant policies and procedures including the coordination of hire equipment when required.
- Review of operational tasks and procedures including JSA’s and SOP’s.
- Conduct employee performance reviews.
- Liaise with the Processing Maintenance, Metallurgical and Mining departments to ensure optimal utilisation of the plant
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Metallurgy or Mineral Processing.
- At least 7 years experience in a middle management role in a large scale processing plant.
- Extensive experience in the operational control of large gearless drive high aspect SAG and high volume Ball Miss.
- Experience with flotation circuits and copper concentrate processing.
- Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia orbe eligible to become a Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
