The Macha Research Trust (MRT) is a health research organization based at Macha Mission Hospital in Choma, Southern Province. The institute conducts basic and applied research for strengthening interventions against malaria, TB and HIV/AIDS. MRT seeks to recruit a suitably qualified individual to take up the position of Project Coordinator for a large four-year study of early Infant HIV diagnosis. The appointment is with effect from November 2, 2015.
JOB TITLE: Project Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Principal investigator
DETAILS OF THE JOB:
The job will comprise the following duties:
- Managing a study team of at least six people
- Supervising study activities on a daily basis
- Ensuring that study protocols are being followed
- Maintaining study supplies
- Communicating with the IRB and preparing progress reports
- Maintaining study documents and records
- Communicating with the local and International investigators
- Performing other study-related tasks as needed
ELIGIBLE CANDIDATE:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree (social sciences or equivalents) with three-year diploma in nursing/clinical medicine preferable
- Additional training or qualifications in health related sciences or relevant work experience may be a substitute for additional education
- Work experience an research studies
- Experience ¡n managing and supervising a team
- Good communication skills
- Evidence of attention to detail
- Experience in use of computers and data management
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Five working days per week (Monday to Friday, 8.00hrs — 17.00hrs), with possible half day Saturday or Sunday
- Two-year contractual agreement, with renewal foe’ two additional years based on performance
