Project Summary: ZAMFAM South/Central is a USAID-funded 5 year project being implemented by Zambia-registered prime contractor Development Aid People to People (DAPP). The overall goal of ZAMFAM South/Central is to improve the care and resilience of vulnerable populations in the Southern and Central Provinces of Zambia, specifically targeting OVC and PLWHA by supporting, protecting and strengthening the capacity of children, families and communities. The project goal will be reached through directly involving the children, youth, families and caregivers, community groups and government structures. Creative Associates International is a sub-contractor to DAPP for ZAMFAM South/Central. Creative’s role on ZAMFAM South/Central is to support DAPP and the ZAMFAM project for the first 3 years (of the 5-year project) by providing capacity building support to DAPP, and implementing partners who work directly with vulnerable households and OVC. Three technical staff will be based in Kabwe, Zambia, supported by a finance manager, and a program assistant and driver.
Position Summary:
The driver provides reliable and safe driving services to staff members and visitors ensuring the highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, and an excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The driver also demonstrates a client-oriented approach, courtesy, confidentiality, tact and an ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. Driving to and within Central and Southern Provinces will be required.
Reporting & Supervision:
This position reports in Kabwe to the Creative Team Leader (Capacity Building Specialist).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensures provision of reliable and safe driving services;
- Keeps abreast of traffic and road and security and safety awareness to enable safe and on time arrival for meetings;
- Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports;
- Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes and water levels, car washing, etc so that the vehicle is kept clean and in good running condition at all times; and
- Ensures proper use of vehicle maintenance plans and assistance in preparing vehicle history report.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Completed secondary level education.
- Valid driver’s license;
- Three years of work experience as a driver with a safe driving record;
- Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies, and local roads and conditions, and defensive driving skills; and
- Skill in minor vehicle repairs.
