Position: Junior Information Technology Officer
Contract: 1 year renewable

Background:
BioCarbon Partners (BCP) is an African-registered and headquartered REDD+ development and management social enterprise. BCP is implementing the Community-based Forest Management Program (CFP) funded by USAID/Zambia. The CFP award represents a significant addition to the BCP portfolio and budget and enables BCP as a company to expand its business. The CFP expansion, and future growth of the company, requires the development of more robust administrative and financial systems to manage a growing portfolio along with a restructuring of the company’s management as the management team expands. In addition, being the first multi-year USAID award that BCP Limited has received, several special conditions have been included in the agreement between BCP and USAID to ensure that BCP develops and implements USAID compliant administrative and financial management systems. In order to support these more comprehensive and robust systems, it is necessary to have functioning and integrated information technology (IT) systems in place, and staff trained in their use and management.
Scope of Work:
BCP is seeking a Junior IT Officer to support to install and maintain IT systems and infrastructure and train BCP staff at the Mfuwe and Nyimba offices. The Junior IT Officer will provide trouble shooting support and setup of new hardware to staff The position will be responsible for maintaining workstations, internet connectivity, mobile devices and general hardware and software trouble shooting.
Job Description:
- Provide training to staff use and management of IT systems/programs, including Gdrive (or comparable applicable program).
- Install necessary programs (such as Back Country Navigator) onto Android and other devices, where applicable, and ensure that programs are set-up and staff trained in how to use them.
- Train in online document management (knowledge management).
- Set-up of office and field-based technology, including set-up of network(s), ensuring all devices can connect and communicate over wireless networks, and ensure devices are connected to printers/scanners, etc.
- Assist with the website redesign in consultation with the MD and/or other designated individuals, such as a Communications Specialist.
- Development of online systems such as IT service logs and vehicle management
- Develop systems to secure organisational data.
- Setup and maintain work stations
- Setup and maintain mobile devices.
- Maintain internet connectivity for VSAT and other systems, install routers, wifi networks.
Qualifications:
- Recognised tertiary qualification in IT
- Experience managing IT systems for small, medium and large organizations
- Experience training in IT systems
- Strong inter-cultural and inter-personal communication skills
- Minimum 2 years working experience
- Expert knowledge of Google Business Apps, Android and MS Office 365 a must
Reporting
The IT will report to the Senior IT Officer or his designee throughout this assignment. Briefings and/or debriefings with the USAID Agreement Officer’s Representative, other USG officials are subject to request by these parties.
