Mbala Media, a publishing company based in Lusaka, is offering an opportunity to a smart and fresh thinking intern who will have the chance to work as part of our creative content team for its Flagship publication – the Education Link Magazine.
The Education Link magazine, is Zambia’s number one guide on all things education. We are looking for someone with exceptional writing skills who can creatively translate the brand’s young, fun culture to a wide audience.
If you’re to survive the 3 month internship, you’ll need to be well-organized, strong in written communication, have the ability come up with creative ideas, and of course, love publishing!
Responsibilities:
- Sub-edit and rewrite copy
- Formatting and proofreading articles to meet style criteria and quality standards before publishing, including proofing at various stages of the production process
- Correcting factual and language errors
- Working with visual material and ensuring copy and images tie up
- Ensuring that spelling and style are correct and consistent and that page numbers, headings and captions are correct
- Generating ideas, monitoring trends researching and proposing ideas
Requirement for this position:
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Effective communication with editors, art directors, designers and journalists/contributors
- Excellent punctuation, grammar and spelling
- Creative, innovative and willing to contribute ideas
- Collaborate well in a team while still being able to handle projects independently
- A good understanding of local and international education trends
