Internship, Graphic Design and Communications

The United Nations World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking an Intern who is specialized in Graphic Design and Communications for the Human Resources Division to support the functions of Talent Deployment & Career Management and Talent Acquisition. The position will be based at our Headquarters in Rome, Italy. The Internship will be for an initial period of 6 months starting in September/October, with possibility of extension.
The Talent Deployment & Career Management and Talent Acquisition Branch are key partners in the achievement of WFP's strategic objectives. These branches focus on strategies and tools that effectively recruit and deploy talent across the organisation, whilst committing to the strategic management of careers and capabilities required for the future.
In order to enhance the service provided to our highly diverse global workforce, working in very challenging contexts, the Talent Deployment & Career Management Branch is launching a new set of guidelines, materials, tools and web-based media to enable our 14,000 staff to engage in the management and planning of their careers. The Branch is also developing additional materials to support managers. From the Talent Acquisition side, the Branch is managing several initiatives and programmes to ensure the organization will attract, select and hire people with the right capability to achieve our mandate.
Description
The selected candidate will be responsible for following key duties
  • Concept and complete design of support materials, guides and tools that effectively reflect and communicate the principles and philosophies identified in the Career Framework and Talent Acquisition Strategy.
  • Design communication materials and guides for Talent Deployment exercises and Talent Acquisition initiatives, reflecting new strategic thinking set out by HR Leadership Team.
  • Contribute to the design and development of webpages dedicated to career management, talent deployment and talent acquisition, after being trained in the content management tool used by WFP.
  • Propose creative solutions for current challenges, including quick turnaround for concepts and decisions made at key meetings.
  • Develop internal and external media/ communication materials while working with Communications specialists in the organisation.
  • Contribute to additional HR initiatives and/ or campaigns.
Essential Requirements
  • Currently enrolled or have recently graduated from a University degree in Graphic Design, Communications and/or Web Design or related studies;
  • Have completed at least two years of undergraduate study;
  • Have attended professional courses in the last 12 months;
  • Fluent in English;
  • Proficiency in the main Graphic Design technologies of the Adobe Creative Suite, such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop;
  • Proficiency of HTML, Java Script and CSS is a plus;
  • Initiative, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members of different nationals and cultural backgrounds.
Terms and Conditions
  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the amount of US$700 per month depending on the duty station.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, travel to and from WFP internship location, necessary visas and costs related.
